At the ECP Regular Board meeting on March 9, 2020 at 6:00pm, the Board unanimously approved the consent agenda items, continuing a contract with OKTLE to provide online evaluation services for teachers and administrators, and to continue to use Municipal Accounting Systems for the Student Information System and the District Accounting Software. The Board also voted to adjunct Mr. Riddle to teach Earth Science and to adopt Policy FD-P giving guidelines and processes for residency disputes for any homeless students. Mr. Willis spoke with the Board about the current Wireless Communication Devices Policy FNG and how cellphones have become a distraction in the classroom and that he and the teachers are implementing changes. Student cellphones are not to be seen or heard during class time. With all of the Chromebooks in the classrooms and available for use, students no longer need to use their phones for research or activities.
In the Principal’s reports, Mrs. Riddle is doing well in her recovery from donating a kidney to her mother on February 24th and things at the elementary are going well in her absence. Mrs. Doss reported on the great things happening at the middle school, including how the students in Mrs. Jerrie Doss’ class are learning about taxes, bank accounts, and knowing the difference between a want and a need. Mr. Willis reported that Badger University, a collaboration between ECP and the EC Area Chamber of Commerce, is going well. The Seniors will be meeting with local business leaders on a weekly basis to learn about various life skills such as resume building, banking, insurance, local job opportunities, and how to interview. Superintendent Cruz reported that the Mandatory Walkthrough for any business wishing to submit a bid for demolition of the high school is happening on Tuesday at 10:00am and that paperwork for the Fire Marshal Permits were submitted, by hand by the portable building company on February 28th. She has spoken with one of the deputy marshals about where the District is in the process and she was told that it could take 4-6 weeks but they would be working on it as soon as possible. The meeting was adjourned at 8:41pm.
